Equipped

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ
— Ephesians 4:11–13

The apostle Paul teaches us in Ephesians 4 something of Jesus’ vision for who should do ministry in the church, and the answer may surprise you. It’s not restricted to ordained leadership, nor to paid staff. Rather, all saints, all Christians, are to engage in the work of ministry. More than that, we are given a worthy goal to inspire us to do so: attaining the fullness of Christ.

This means that by God’s design, the way we come to a deeper Christlikeness in our lives individually is through the work of the church corporately. All of us have a role to play in advancing the people of God to maturity in His Son. To belong to the church isn’t simply to be built up by others, but also to actively seek to build up others.

Reflecting Christ’s model of every member ministry

We have a variety of ministry teams for you to serve on. There is a place for every single person in the church to serve in some way.

  • Purpose: To train our young people in the Word of God, the doctrines of the church, and to help develop Christian character.

    Leader: Nate Meulenberg

  • Purpose: To brainstorm, organize, and execute opportunities for church fellowship throughout the year.

    Leader: Ben Vlietstra

  • To warmly welcome all worshipers into our church--and that isn’t hard to do! You just need a smile and a good handshake. Greeters should make a special effort to make visitors feel at home.

    Leader: Deacons

  • Purpose: To afford our visitors a place to eat with our church family after worship, sharing the warmth of Christian fellowship.

    Team Leader: Kwabea Agbley

How it works: a group of families willing to host up to once every 6 months on a Sunday afternoon. The week this family is scheduled, they would be charged with finding visitors and inviting them to join for lunch. They should invite 2-3 other church members/families that will be with them anyway, who can help in bringing food. A family that lives too far from the church or doesn’t feel they have adequate space at their home to host may use the church facility.

  • Purpose: Prepare the elements of the sacrament and clean up after services (2nd AM Sundays and 5th PM Sundays)

    Team Leader: Jennifer Westerman

  • Purpose: To show the love of Christ to families (Matt. 19:14) by offering a safe place for parents to leave their children (nb–3yo) while the rest of the family participates in worship.

    Team Leader: Megan Novak

  • Purpose: To assist the congregation in the ministry of outreach and evangelism by brainstorming and executing various opportunities for outreach throughout the year.

    Leader: Hannah Vander Band

  • Purpose: To provide technical excellence for the Lord’s sake in our Sunday worship services and special events, particularly as they are live-streamed to those unable to attend in-person.

    Team Leader: Kerri Ann Cruse

  • Purpose: To maintain the safety of our people and premises during worship, and also to provide welcome and assistance to late-comers as needed.

    Leader: Deacons

Each would serve.
All would grow.
Christ alone would be exalted.
